CWS Door Installation: The Parkland Owner’s Guide

CWS door installation in Parkland typically runs $1,800 to $4,200 for a standard single entry door, depending on impact rating, frame condition, and whether the rough opening needs reworking. We stock CWS-compatible frames, sills, and hardware for same-day installation on most series. Most Parkland homeowners discover a CWS door is failing when the sweep drags, the multipoint lock won’t throw, or they feel air movement around the jamb during a summer storm.

Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS (Custom Window Systems) manufactures several door lines common in Parkland homes built between 2015 and 2022, particularly in Heron Bay and Parkland Isles. The series you’ll most often encounter are the CWS 7200 Series impact entry door, the CWS 5400 Series non-impact French door, and the CWS 6800 Series sliding patio door. Each uses a proprietary frame profile and multipoint hardware spacing that does not interchange with PGT or CGI without modification.

To identify your series, check the etched mark on the glass corner (impact units) or the sticker on the hinge jamb interior. The 7200 Series hinge spacing is 7-1/2 inches on center; the 5400 Series uses 8 inches. Get this wrong and the lock face won’t mate with the keepers. We carry both OEM CWS hardware and quality aftermarket equivalents from Truth Hardware where the spec matches. The aftermarket route saves roughly $140 on hardware but voids any remaining CWS glass warranty if the door is still under original coverage. We document which route we recommend and why in the written scope we leave with you.

Signs Your CWS Door Installation Is Failing

  • The sweep drags or the door sticks in the jamb. CWS sills are aluminum with a PVC cap that swells in South Florida humidity. In Parkland, we see this most on west-facing doors where afternoon rain hits hot metal. The cap warps upward, binding the panel. A new sill cap runs $90 to $140 installed; a full sill replacement is $380 to $520 if the sub-sill has rotted.
  • Air whistles through the jamb or you see daylight at the header. This means the frame has shifted or the original foam seal has degraded. CWS frames are vinyl-clad aluminum; the expansion coefficient differs between the two materials, and after eight to twelve years the sealant bridge cracks. We remove the brickmold, re-shim, and reseal with backer rod and OSI Quad.
  • The multipoint lock handle turns but the bolts don’t throw. CWS uses a geared mechanism inside the stile that corrodes from salt air even twenty miles inland. The gearbox is not serviceable separately on most units; we replace the full mechanism and realign the keepers.
  • Condensation between the glass lites on an impact door. CWS impact units use a warm-edge spacer that fails faster in high-UV environments. Parkland’s exposure is moderate compared to the coast, but we still see seal failure at twelve to fifteen years routinely. The glass pack must be replaced; drilling and defogging voids the impact rating.
  • The door rattles in wind below 30 mph. Usually the hinge screws have backed out of the aluminum frame or the compression adjusters on the multipoint have loosened. Both are fixable in one visit, but the underlying cause is often original installation without thread-locking compound on the hinge screws.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Modern home featuring professional window replacement with black-framed glass windows
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Scope Price Range
CWS entry door, standard single, non-impact, reuse existing frame $1,800 - $2,400
CWS entry door, impact-rated, with new frame $2,800 - $4,200
CWS sliding patio door, 6’0″ x 6’8″, impact glass $3,200 - $4,800
Multipoint lock mechanism replacement only $340 - $480
Sill cap or threshold replacement $180 - $340
Glass pack replacement, impact-rated $620 - $980

What drives the range: frame condition (aluminum frames in Parkland often need corner gusset reinforcement after eight years), whether the rough opening is square within 1/8 inch, and whether the original installation used proper flashing tape. Our price includes removal, disposal, new fasteners, sealant, trim repair, and the documented photo record. We pull permits when required by Broward County or the Parkland building department; permit fees are listed separately on the written quote, not buried. Every CWS door installation carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise under the Haven Standard.

DIY or Call Us?

There is one thing a CWS owner can safely check: open the door ninety degrees and lift the handle upward. If the panel rises more than 1/16 inch, the hinge screws are loose or the frame is settling. Tightening hinge screws is reasonable if you own a proper #3 Phillips and can identify stripped threads before you make them worse.

Everything else warrants a trained technician. Impact-rated doors are heavy, typically 180 to 240 pounds for a standard single, and the multipoint lock mechanism is under spring tension that can snap fingers or crack the stile if released incorrectly. Rehanging a CWS door in an existing frame requires plumb, level, and square within 1/8 inch simultaneously; most homeowners measure one at a time and wonder why the sweep still drags. We have pulled and replaced doors in Parkland where the previous owner shimmed with cardboard and caulked over the gap. Measure it right the first time. Everything else is just caulk.

If you’re unsure which series you have or whether the frame is salvageable, call (754) 205-3820. We will schedule a measured survey, leave you the written dimensions, and quote the exact scope before any work starts.
